"Seven years ago this farm, composed of Messrs C. F. Reck and G. U Baker began a business that has grown to proportions of which Union Bridge may be proud. Since the death of Mr. Reck, about four years ago, the business has been conducted by Mr. Baker under the old farm name.  Mr. Baker is a native of Montgomery County, but has lived in Union Bridge 27 years.  Green groceries, country produce, and vegetables are handled in season. Oranges, bananas, and other tropical fruits are carried. Smoked meats, bologna, and sausage form a department, while butter, eggs, poultry, potatoes, and apples are bought in both large and small quantities and shipped to city markets. Garden seeds form an item in this diversified business."
